Health self-check calculator

BMI, basal metabolism, daily calories and check-up unit conversion in one page; type and go, keyboard-friendly.

BMI(Body Mass Index,体重指数)= 体重(kg) ÷ 身高(m)²。

FAQ

Why does one BMI count as 'overweight' by the Chinese standard but 'normal' by WHO?

The two standards draw different lines: the Chinese standard starts overweight at 24 and obesity at 28; WHO starts overweight at 25 and obesity at 30 (normal ranges 18.5-23.9 vs 18.5-24.9). A BMI in 24-24.9 therefore gets different labels. This is not an arithmetic error but a difference in risk framing - metabolic risk in Asian populations rises clearly at lower BMI, so the domestic standard warns earlier. This page states its main conclusion under the Chinese standard and shows WHO only as a reference.

Does a normal BMI mean I am healthy? Does a high BMI mean I am fat?

Neither conclusion holds. BMI is a height-weight ratio; it cannot tell muscle from fat: a trained person at BMI 26 may have low body fat, while someone of normal weight with little muscle (the so-called normal-weight obesity) may sit at BMI 22. BMI also ignores fat distribution - abdominal risk is judged by waist circumference (men >=90cm, women >=85cm). It is one coarse screening pass, not a diagnosis. Pregnancy, athletes, adolescents, edema and long-term bed rest each change how BMI should be read.

The two BMR formulas differ by dozens of kcal - which one should I trust?

Mifflin-St Jeor and the revised Harris-Benedict are both linear regressions on weight, height, age and sex, fitted on different populations in different eras; for the same person they usually differ by less than 5% (this page computes that gap for you). Mifflin-St Jeor is the more commonly used, better-validated modern formula, so this page takes it as primary - but either formula can be off by ±10% for a specific individual, and your real activity level and muscle mass move the number far more than the formula choice. The practical approach: eat at your TDEE as a starting point for two weeks, adjust along the weight trend - do not agonize over the 40 kcal between formulas.

When cutting fat, is lower calorie intake always better?

No. Too large a deficit makes the body burn muscle for fuel and dial down basal metabolism: the scale drops fast short term but is harder to hold long term, with fatigue, hair loss and menstrual disturbance among the common costs. The mainstream guidance is to lose no more than 0.5%-1% of body weight per week (this page's fat-loss tier uses -15% precisely to match that pace) while keeping protein intake and resistance training. Also, running calories below your basal metabolic rate long term should only happen under professional supervision - do not self-prescribe it. With a chronic condition, on medication, or during pregnancy and postpartum, consult a doctor first.

How do I convert blood pressure kPa to mmHg? And blood glucose mg/dL to mmol/L?

Blood pressure: 1 kPa = 7.5 mmHg, so 120 mmHg = 120 / 7.5 = 16.0 kPa (multiply kPa by 7.5 to go back). Blood glucose: 1 mmol/L = 18.0182 mg/dL, so 5.5 mmol/L = 5.5 x 18.0182 = about 99.1 mg/dL. Blood lipids: total cholesterol, HDL and LDL use mg/dL / 38.67 = mmol/L; triglycerides use mg/dL / 88.57 = mmol/L; creatinine uses mg/dL x 88.4 = umol/L. All of these are built in as two-way converters, each labeled with its coefficient and direction.

Are my weight and blood pressure uploaded or stored?

No. The page makes no network request at all: the numbers never enter the URL, localStorage or sessionStorage, cookies, or the console - they exist only in this page's memory and vanish when you close or refresh. Verify it yourself with the Network panel of developer tools: no request ever carries these values. This tool deliberately has no 'log in to save history' feature, because that would mean the data leaving your device.
