Unit converter
Nine families — length, area, volume, mass, temperature, speed, data storage, time, pressure; enter one number and every unit in the family fills in together.
FAQ
1 mu = 2000/3 square meters = 666.666666..., a repeating decimal that never ends. The different figures are just different rounding depths: 666.67 keeps two decimals, 666.6667 keeps four. For exact back-and-forth conversions use the integer relations instead: 1 hectare = 15 mu, 1 square kilometre = 1500 mu. This page computes with 2000/3 and shows 6 significant digits, which is why you see 666.667.
Two conventions are in play. Drive makers use decimal: 1 TB = 1000 GB. Operating systems use binary: 1 TiB = 1024 GiB. Converted to binary, 1 TB = 1000^4 / 1024^3 = about 931.32 GiB, so Windows shows a 1TB drive as roughly 931GB. Nothing is being shorted - both units are real and in use; this page lists GB and GiB side by side precisely so you can see the gap.
Mainland China's market system: 1 jin = 500 g, 1 liang = 50 g, 1 jin = 10 liang - the convention across markets and herbal pharmacies. In Taiwan a jin is 600 g; in Hong Kong the custom (si ma) jin is about 604.8 g. This page uses the mainland system (500 g / 50 g); for cross-border situations, first confirm which jin your counterpart means.
Because the two scales have different zero points, so the conversion must carry a shift term: F = C x 9 / 5 + 32, K = C + 273.15. Examples: 0 C = 32 F = 273.15 K, 100 C = 212 F, and -40 C = -40 F - the point where the two scales cross. Kelvin has no negatives: input below -273.15 C is flagged as 'below absolute zero' and not converted.
Mach is a multiple of the local speed of sound, and the speed of sound depends on air temperature - colder air, slower sound. This page uses the International Standard Atmosphere at 15 C, sea level: 340.3 m/s, so Mach 1 = 340.3 m/s = 1225.08 km/h. Up high in cold air the speed of sound can drop to around 295 m/s, and there Mach 1 corresponds to a much lower speed.
No. That artifact is inevitable in binary floating point, which cannot represent decimal fractions like 0.1 or 0.3 exactly (in binary floating point 0.1 + 0.2 does not equal 0.3). This page formats every result: within the ordinary range, 6 significant digits with trailing zeros trimmed; beyond 1e15 or below 1e-4, scientific notation, so 1e-9 meters shows as 1e-9 rather than 0. Empty input, sign-only input, NaN and Infinity are flagged in place and never reach the result area.
