Find and replace
Literal / regex modes · case sensitive · whole word · replace all · $1 group references
FAQ
No. Finding and replacing are computed entirely locally in your browser; the page makes no server requests, the text exists only in the page's memory, and reloading clears it.
Literal mode searches your input characters exactly as typed (case and special characters taken at face value); regex mode treats the search box as a regular expression, supporting character classes, quantifiers, groups and more - in the replace box $1/$2 refer to captured groups and $$ means a literal $.
The whole-word option only applies in literal mode (decided by whether a letter, digit or underscore sits right next to the match). In regex mode, write the word boundary \b yourself, for example \bcat\b.
Beyond 200,000 characters nothing is processed (to guard against a laggy page and regex backtracking blowups) - please work in chunks; when there are too many matches the highlight display truncates, but the count stays accurate.
